Premium Grade Description:
Premium Hand-Split Cedar Shakes (Heavies):
Available in 18" and 24" lengths, Manufactured from #1 Grade Western Red Cedar, Clear Heartwood, No flat grain, 5 bundles per square, One square is 100 sq. ft. of installed coverage at the maximum of 7-1/2'" exposure for 18" shakes and 10" exposure for the 24" shake. For roof pitch of 4:12 or steeper. Premium Hand-Split Cedar Shakes (Medium): Available in 18" and 24" lengths, Minimum 1/2" thickness, Manufactured from Western Red Cedar, Clear Heartwood, 100% edge-grain shakes, No flat grain, 5 bundles per square, One square is 100 sq. ft. of installed coverage at the maximum of 7-1/2'" exposure for 18" shakes and 10" exposure for the 24" shake. For roof pitch of 4:12 or steeper.
Wall Exposure-Single course: 8 1/2" for 18-inch cedar shake; 11 1/2" for 24-inch cedar shake. Double course: 14' for 18-inch cedar shake; 18" for 24-inch cedar shake.

For roof pitch of 4:12 or steeper.
#1 Hand-Split Cedar Shakes(Medium): Available in 18" and 24" lengths, Minimum 1/2" thickness, Manufactured from #1 Grade Red Cedar, Clear Heartwood, a maximum 20% of flat grain shake allowable per square, 5 bundles per square, One square is 100 sq. ft. of installed coverage at the maximum of 7-1/2'" exposure for 18" shakes and 10" exposure for the 24" shake. For roof pitch of 4:12 or steeper.
Wall Exposure-Single course: 8 1/2" for 18-inch cedar shake; 11 1/2 " for 24- inch cedar shake. Double course: 14" for 18-inch cedar shake; 18" for 24-inch cedar shake.
Certi-Guard
Identification: Class C Shakes and Shingles = Blue Certi-Guard / Class B shakes and shingles = Red Certi-Guard; materials; manufactured from Premium and Number 1 Grade Certi-Split or Certi-Sawn cedar shakes or Number 1 Certi-Grade cedar shingles. Standards: ASTM-108, UL-790, NFPA-256, UBC Standard 15-2.
Certi-Last CCA
Certi-Last Pressure Preservative Treatment: Long term protection from fungal decay is provided with factory pressure treatment of preservatives that will extend the life of Cedar shake or shingles. In accordance with UBC Standards No.15-3 and 15-4 and /or CSA0118.1.

Thickness shall be 3/4" with a minus tolerance of 1/16" in 10% of the bundles, Available in 18" and 24" lengths, Manufactured from #1 Grade Western Red Cedar, Minimum width shall be 3-1/2". Shakes less than 4" shall not constitute more than 5% of each bundle. 1/8" sap wood allowed at exposure line and above. Face 100% clear, 100% edge grain shake, 5 bundles per square, One square is 100 sq. ft. of installed coverage at the maximum 7-1/2" exposure for the 18" shake and 10" exposure for the 24" shake. For roof pitch of 4:12 or steeper.
Premium Taper Sawn Shake (Medium):
Number One Grade #1 Taper Sawn Shake (Heavy):
Thickness shall be 3/4" with a minus tolerance of 1/16" in 10% of the bundles, Available in 18" and 24" lengths, Manufactured from #1 Grade Western Red Cedar, Minimum width shall be 3-1/2". Shakes less than 4" shall not constitute more than 5% of each bundle. 1/8" sap wood allowed at exposure line and above. Face 100% clear, A maximum 20% flat grain shake per bundle, 5 bundles per square, One square is 100 sq. ft. of installed coverage at the maximum 7-1/2" exposure for the 18" shake and 10" exposure for the 24" shake. Thickness shall be 5/8" with a minus tolerance of 1/16" in 10% of the bundles, Available in 18" and 24" lengths, Manufactured from #1 Grade Western Red Cedar, Minimum width shall be 3-1/2". Shakes less than 4" shall not constitute more than 5% of each bundle. 1/8" sap wood allowed at exposure line and above. Face 100% clear, A maximum 20% flat grain shake per bundle, 5 bundles per square, One square is 100 sq. ft. of installed coverage at the maximum 7-1/2" exposure for the 18" shake and 10" exposure for the 24" shake. Class A, B and C fire rating may be obtained by specifying Certi-Guard permanent fire retardant Certi-Split Handsplit and Resawn Shakes
CCA treated cedar shakes are available for added longevity and come with a 30-year treating manufacturer warranty, protecting it against rot and fungal decay.
